Jason McAteer identifies signing Liverpool FC need to make this summer
The Liverpool FC legend believes the Reds need to sign another centre-half in the summer transfer window

Jason McAteer has urged Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp to sign another centre-half in the same mould as Virgil van Dijk.
The Reds signed the Netherlands international in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Southampton in the January transfer window.
Liverpool FC have made a marked improvement since Van Dijk’s world record move to the Anfield outfit.
The 26-year-old has helped the Reds to finish in the top four for the second successive season and ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.
Van Dijk has been a key part of Liverpool FC’s successful run to the Champions League final after the Reds secured victories over FC Porto, Manchester City and Real Madrid.
Klopp has stuck with Dejan Lovren as Van Dijk’s centre-half partner, due in part to Joel Matip’s injury-hit season, but the Croatia international has still been prone to defensive lapses.
Former Liverpool FC midfielder McAteer is hoping the Reds will bring in another centre-half in the summer to partner their record signing Van Dijk.
“I’d also look for another centre-half. At Liverpool there is strength in all areas – in midfield and the front three pick themselves – but where they can get better is that centre-half position alongside Van Dijk,” McAteer told 888sport.
“Someone of his stature who is not going to be make a stupid mistake. Apart from Van Dijk Liverpool’s centre-halves all offer a mistake.”
Liverpool FC haven’t won the Premier League title but will be hoping to make a title tilt against Manchester City this term.
