Man United could ruin Liverpool’s attempts to sign 26-year-old Brazilian playmaker – report
Manchester United's bid to sign Ivan Perisic could impact Liverpool's hopes of signing Douglas Costa, according to reports
Manchester United could scupper Liverpool’s attempts to sign Douglas Costa if Jose Mourinho lands his second summer signing, according to reports in Italy.
Sky Italia, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo is reporting that Jurgen Klopp has earmarked Costa as a potential alternative to Mohamed Salah if the Reds failed to get a deal over the line for the Roma man.
However, the same article states that Serie A giants Inter Milan are interested in the Bayern attacker, with Manchester United said to be closing in on the signing of Ivan Perisic.
It remains to be seen whether there is any truth behind the reports linking Perisic with a move to Old Trafford but it seems that proposed transfer could have a potential knock-on effect at Anfield.
Costa struggled to secure regular first-team football under Carlo Ancelotti last season as Bayern retained their Bundesliga crown.
The 26-year-old scored four goals and made three assists in 23 appearances in the German top flight.
Liverpool are looking to bolster their squad ahead of a return to the Champions League next term.
The Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League table in Klopp’s first full season in charge at Anfield.
