Jamie Carragher sends message to Liverpool fans about summer signings under Jurgen Klopp
The Liverpool legend is realistic about Jurgen Klopp's pursuit of targets in the summer transfer window
Jamie Carragher has warned that Liverpool may have to be prepared to settle for their second-choice targets in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is looking to bolster his squad as the Reds prepare to return to the Champions League next season.
The Merseyside outfit managed to secure a top-four finish despite missing Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane for significant spells during the second half of the campaign.
Klopp has already agreed a deal to sign England Under-21 international Dominic Solanke from Premier League champions Chelsea on 1 July.
Liverpool have also been linked with a deal to sign Roma winger Mohamed Salah to bolster their options on the wing, while ending their interest in Virgil van Dijk on Wednesday evening.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ about the type of signings that Klopp needs to make in the summer transfer window, former Liverpool defender Carragher said:
“You never know who the club are going to buy. But I’m the same as any supporter this season, there’s always that hope and optimism that you’re going to get all the targets that you want.
“It never really happens but that’s the same for any club. I’m sure at times you get number two or three on the list but that’s football, and that’s the way it goes.
“Hopefully for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, they get everyone that they want.”
Liverpool signed seven players in their first summer transfer window under Klopp last year.
