John Barnes urges Liverpool to make important signing to solve big problem
The Liverpool legend wants to see Jurgen Klopp sign a striker capable of delivering an alternative plan...

John Barnes believes Jurgen Klopp should consider signing a player capable of implementing a “plan b” next season.
Liverpool got over the line in the top-four race to finish a point ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal in the Premier League table.
Klopp’s side struggled badly in the second half of the season as injuries caught up with the Merseyside outfit.
Liverpool were unable to break down some of the league’s smaller teams at Anfield as Klopp’s men lacked an alternative plan.
Former Liverpool captain Barnes wants to see the Reds add a striker similar to Diego Costa or Olivier Giroud capable of offering a different option.
“Manchester City and Arsenal aren’t going to set out in a way like West Brom or Burnley,” Barnes told Ladbrokes.
“But Liverpool’s problems are when they come up against teams like West Brom etc, it’s not even a plan B they need, just another option.
“A player like Olivier Giroud or a Zlatan Ibrahimovic or a Diego Costa, someone to steal or force a goal when things are tough.”
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League last term to secure a long-awaited return to the Champions League next term.
The Reds haven’t won the Premier League but Liverpool finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
Klopp was appointed as Liverpool manager back in October 2015 after Brendan Rodgers was sacked following a disappointing start to the season.
