Liverpool told to make six new signings to improve Jurgen Klopp’s squad
Phil Neville believes Jurgen Klopp needs to add five or six new players to his squad to give Liverpool greater depth ahead of 2017-18 season
Liverpool need to make five or six new signings to “thicken” Jurgen Klopp’s squad in the summer transfer window, according to Phil Neville.
The Merseyside outfit have signed two new players this summer so far as Klopp looks to improve his team ahead of a return to the Champions League next term.
Liverpool have already signed Egypt international Mohamed Salah in a £36.7m from Serie A giants AS Roma to bolster their attacking options for the 2017-18 season.
The 18-time English champions have also added Dominic Solanke to their squad after Liverpool snapped up the promising forward on a free transfer from Chelsea.
Liverpool will be tasked with competing on four fronts next season, something which will prove challenging given how Klopp’s squad was stretched last season without the distraction of European football.
Speaking to Sky Sports News about what signings Liverpool need to make ahead of the 2017-18 campaign, former Everton and Manchester United defender Neville said:
“They have the Champions League, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Premier League – they’re going to need five or six more players just to thicken the squad – and they’re going to need quality to improve the starting 11.”
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League last season and a point ahead of Arsenal.
