Liverpool have submitted a club-record £55m offer for AS Monaco forward Thomas Lemar, according to Kaveh Solhekol.

The France international was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal throughout the summer transfer window before Arsene Wenger confirmed the French club wouldn’t do a deal with the Gunners last week.

According to a report last week, the French forward was more interested in a potential move to Premier League leaders Manchester United than Arsenal this summer.

However, Liverpool have now provided the 21-year-old with the chance to move to Anfield fresh from the Merseyside outfit’s 4-0 win against Wenger’s men on Sunday afternoon.

Ligue 1 side Monaco have already lost some big-name players in the summer transfer window following the sales of Benjamin Mendy, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Bernardo Silva.

Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol revealed that Monaco are contemplating Liverpool’s club-record offer ahead of Thursday’s deadline day.

“Staying at Monaco, and the summer sale might not be over yet. Our information is that Liverpool have made a £55m bid for Thomas Lemar,” Solhekol told Sky Sports News on Monday morning.

“Arsenal have also been trying to sign the French midfielder but last week Arsene Wenger said that Monaco have decided not to sell Lemar.

“We’ve been told that Monaco have not decided yet whether to accept or reject Liverpool’s bid.

“They’re trying to see if they can find an adequate replacement before selling him. Lemar played the full 90 minutes as Monaco beat Marseille 6-1 on Sunday.”

Lemar scored nine goals and made 10 assists in 34 games in Ligue 1 last season to help AS Monaco win the French top-flight title.

Liverpool have signed four players in the summer transfer window so far as Jurgen Klopp looks to improve his options ahead of a return to the Champions League.

The Reds spent a club-record fee on AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah back in July.
