Jurgen Klopp told Liverpool need to strengthen key position
Phil Neville tells Liverpool to sign a top goalkeeper to bolster their Premier League title chances

Liverpool need to sign a top goalkeeper to replace Simon Mignolet, according to Phil Neville.
The Reds signed a shot stopper last summer but Germany Under-21 international Loris Karius failed to impress in the Premier League despite being handed the number one shirt.
Manager Jurgen Klopp wasted no time restoring Belgian goalkeeper Mignolet to his starting line-up despite criticism of the former Sunderland star over the past two or three seasons.
To his credit, the Belgium international proved a key figure in Liverpool’s successful end to the 2016-17 season as Liverpool managed to secure fourth place ahead of rivals Arsenal.
Liverpool have signed AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah and England Under-20 international Dominic Solanke in the summer transfer window so far.
However, former Manchester United defender Neville believes Liverpool need a new goalkeeper as well as bringing in more numbers to improve squad depth ahead of a return to the Champions League next season.
“In terms of positions that need strengthening, I think the goalkeeping situation is always a healthy debate because with Mignolet – is he a goalkeeper who is going to win you the league?” Neville told Sky Sports News HQ.
“I don’t think so. That’s a position that they need to strengthen. I think squad depth is a problem at Liverpool, probably more than squad quality.”
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table in their first full season under Klopp.
