Liverpool FC are hoping to wrap up a £70m deal to sign Virgil van Dijk before the close of the summer transfer window, according to reports

Liverpool are hoping to rekindle a £70m deal to sign Southampton club captain Virgil van Dijk, according to reports in England.
The Evening Standard is reporting that the Reds are still looking to sign the 26-year-old centre-half before the close of the summer transfer window at 23:00 BST on Thursday night.
Liverpool are prepared to hand Van Dijk a contract worth in excess of £100,000 a week to help the Netherlands international achieve his desired move to Anfield, according to the same report.
The story goes on to reveal that Liverpool’s title rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are all interested in signing the former Celtic defender but the Reds are his preferred destination.
The Merseyside outfit were thought to be on the brink of signing Van Dijk back in June before Liverpool issued a statement apologising to Southampton for their pursuit of the Dutch centre-half.
Liverpool have made an impressive start to the 2017-18 season following a 4-0 win against title rivals Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday to hoist themselves into second place in the table.
The Reds booked their place in the Champions League group-stage draw thanks to a 6-3 aggregate win against Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim in the playoff round.
