Ian Wright reveals reaction when he saw reported Liverpool target for the first time
Arsenal legend Ian Wright admits he was impressed with reported Liverpool FC target Virgil van Dijk

Ian Wright has told Liverpool fans that his first reaction when he saw Southampton captain Virgil van Dijk was “woah”.
The Merseyside outfit were heavily linked with a move to sign the Netherlands international in the summer transfer window.
However, Liverpool were unable to convince Southampton to sell their club captain despite the defender’s eagerness to leave.
Indeed, Van Dijk even handed in a transfer request in an attempt to force through a move to Anfield but the Saints refused to budge.
Liverpool have already conceded 12 times in eight games in the Premier League so far to raise questions about their defence.
Jurgen Klopp continues to be linked with the Dutch centre-half ahead of the January transfer window, which is hardly a surprise given their problems at the back.
Former Arsenal striker Wright has admitted that he is a big fan of Van Dijk since first encountering the ball-playing centre-half at Scottish side Celtic.
“When I first saw Van Dijk, I thought ‘woah’ that’s something you can work with,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.
Liverpool finished in fourth place in their first full season under Klopp to secure a long-awaited return to the Champions League.
The Reds signed one defender in the summer transfer window after the Merseyside outfit snapped up Andy Robertson in an £8m deal from Hull City.
