Jurgen Klopp replies when asked if Mohamed Salah can maintain Liverpool FC form
The Liverpool FC boss is confident Mohamed Salah can continue to thrive in the Premier League
Jurgen Klopp is optimistic that Liverpool FC summer signing Mohamed Salah can maintain his current form in the Premier League.
The Reds finished the calendar year with a close-fought Premier League win after the Merseyside outfit eased to a 2-1 victory over Leicester City at Anfield.
The Foxes broke the deadlock inside three minutes when Jamie Vardy capitalised on Joel Matip’s mistake to score his fifth goal in seven Premier League games.
Liverpool FC summer signing Salah equalised in the 52nd minute when he scored a superb solo goal to beat two Leicester defenders before firing past Kasper Schmeichel.
The Egypt international scored his 17th Premier League goal with 15 minutes to go after Salah managed to hold off Harry Maguire and finish past Leicester’s goalkeeper.
The question is whether Salah will be able to maintain his form into the second half of the campaign given the summer signing has featured in all 21 of their top-flight fixtures so far.
But Klopp is optimistic that Salah could maintain his brilliant form.
“Yes, he can keep that standard, for sure,” Klopp told his post-match media conference.
“He is still a young player, he can improve. It’s not about scoring only, it’s about other situations as well. He’s so important for us. But he knows and I know that he couldn’t score if he didn’t have the fantastic support of all the other boys. We played fantastic passes.
“Sadio’s idea in the moment before Mo scored the first goal – I don’t think a lot of people in the stadium saw that it would be an opportunity. That was really important.”
Salah has netted a staggering 22 times in 27 games in all competitions since a £39m move to Liverpool FC from AS Roma in the summer transfer window.
The Reds are in fourth place in the Premier League table.
