Reporter provides latest Liverpool FC transfer update on Nabil Fekir
Sky Sports News reporter Vinny O'Connor doesn't rule out Liverpool FC signing Nabil Fekir before the end of the transfer window
Liverpool FC could rekindle their interest in Nabil Fakir after the World Cup, Vinny O’Connor has claimed.
The Reds were thought to be on the brink of a deal to sign the Lyon captain last week as Liverpool FC looked to bolster Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options.
The Merseyside outfit were thought to have brought Fekir to Melwood training ground with view to a £60m transfer deal.
Fekir was even reported to have selected his squad number before an issue with his medical was reported to have raised some concerns about the France star.
The Lyon playmaker will hope to prove his detractors wrong on the world stage after he was selected in the France squad for the World Cup in Russia.
The 24-year-old scored 18 times and made eight assists in Ligue 1 last season to attract interest from the 18-time English champions.
Sky Sports News reporter O’Connor shed light on the Fekir situation and the chances of the deal being resurrected.
“If he goes and proves himself, Liverpool could certainly revisit,” O’Connor told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“It would be wrong to rule it out at this stage that Liverpool won’t go back in for him. Liverpool can look at it and see how it goes at the World Cup.
“The other side is how receptive Lyon would be renegotiate after what happened.”
Liverpool FC have only signed Brazil international Fabinho in a £40m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco this summer.
