Gary Neville believes that Virgil van Dijk will end up being a good signing for Liverpool FC if the defender can help to tighten up the Reds’ defence.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool FC side have been earning plenty of praise for their strong attacking performances this season and have beaten the likes of Swansea City 5-0.
However, their defending has come under intense scrutiny at times, with the Reds having failed to produce convincing displays at the back throughout the campaign.
Klopp has clearly moved to address this issue by bringing Van Dijk to Anfield in a January transfer deal from Southampton.
And former Manchester United defender Neville believes that it will end up being a good signing for the Red Devils if Van Dijk can bring some much-needed stability to the Liverpool FC side.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: “It sounds like a fantastic deal for Southampton.
“But if Liverpool can stop their creaking in big matches when put under pressure then it will be a good deal for Liverpool as well because people will forget about the money that has been spent in a year or two if they can win trophies and get the defence right.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC are currently preparing for their final Premier League game of 2017 when they take on Leicester City at Anfield on Saturday.
The Reds are currently fourth in the Premier League table as they look to try and at least match their fourth-placed finish in the top flight from last term and secure Champions League qualification once again.
