Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that the Reds are interested in a potential last-ditch swoop to sign the 21-year-old.
The same article states Liverpool FC are considering a move to sign Barella but the Champions League runners up will face competition for the Cagliari star.
According to the same story, Serie A duo Inter Milan and AS Roma are interested in the Italian midfielder, while Atletico Madrid and Lyon are also keeping tabs on Barella.
