Ian Wright: How Liverpool FC need to replace Philippe Coutinho
Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes Liverpool FC need to sign a player in the same mould as Philippe Coutinho

Ian Wright believes Liverpool FC need to sign back-up for Philippe Coutinho.
The Reds sold the Brazil international in a £142m deal to La Liga giants Barcelona in the January transfer window following months of speculation.
Liverpool FC have a void to fill in midfielder after Coutinho scored 12 goals and made eight assists in 18 starts in the Champions League and the Premier League this term.
The Merseyside outfit have been linked with a move to sign Leicester City attacker Riyad Mahrez and AS Monaco forward Thomas Lemar in recent weeks.
However, the Reds’ only transfer business so far has been the addition of Virgil van Dijk in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Southampton.
Jurgen Klopp’s side didn’t struggle without their former number 10 on Sunday afternoon after Liverpool FC were 4-3 winners against Manchester City to become the first Premier League team to beat the leaders this season.
Former Arsenal striker Wright believes Liverpool FC do need to make a signing to replace Coutinho despite their thrilling seven-goal thriller against Pep Guardiola’s side last weekend.
“They need a Coutinho type player,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“They need someone to back up what they’ve already got. Liverpool brought him on. He was brilliant.
“This was Liverpool’s best time to sell him. They are doing well. Salah, Firmino and Mane are doing well. The Ox is coming on. Lallana is coming back.”
Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table but 15 points adrift of the current leaders in the title race.
