New Liverpool FC signing sends message to Virgil van Dijk
Sepp van den Berg says he is hoping to learn from Liverpool FC star Virgil van Dijk at Anfield

New Liverpool FC signing Sepp van den Berg says he is hoping to learn a lot from PFA player of the year Virgil van Dijk.
The Champions League holders confirmed the signing of Van den Berg on Thursday morning after he passed a medical at Melwood training ground.
Van den Berg becomes the fourth Dutch player in the Liverpool FC squad alongside Van Dijk, Georginio Wijnaldum and Ki-Jana Hoever.
Asked by Liverpool FC’s website whether the presence of Dutch players at the club played a roled in his decision, Van den Berg said:
“Not really, but I was thinking about [the idea of] training with Virgil. For me, he is the best defender in the world right now, so I can learn a lot from him.”
Liverpool FC were reported to have paid €1.9m before add-ons to bring the teenager to the six-time European champions.
The Reds won the race to sign 17-year-old Van den Berg ahead of some of Europe’s top clubs, including the likes of Bayern Munich, Ajax and PSV Eindhoven.
Liverpool FC finished with the best defensive record in the Premier League last season as the Reds ended up in second place a point adrift of Manchester City.
The Merseyside outfit won the Champions League thanks to a 2-0 victory over their domestic rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Madrid showpiece earlier this month.
Liverpool FC have the best defender in the Premier League in their ranks following Van Dijk’s impressive performances in the Reds team over the past year or so, with the Dutchman having been crowned the PFA player of the year last term.
