Simon Mignolet could leave Liverpool FC at the end of the week, his agent has claimed.
The Belgium international is facing an uncertain future at the Merseyside outfit following the arrival of Alisson Becker in the 2018 summer transfer window.
Liverpool FC spent £67m on the Brazil number one to improve what has been a problem position for Jurgen Klopp since the German head coach took over the reins from Brendan Rodgers.
Loris Karius moved ahead of Mignolet in the pecking order last season before the German goalkeeper made two big mistakes in a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
Mignolet has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the Liverpool FC team over the past couple of seasons and the arrival of Alisson means the Belgian’s route to the first team is even more congested.
The Belgium number two has been linked with a potential switch to Serie A side Napoli following Pepe Reina’s move to AC Milan from the Naples outfit last week.
Mignolet’s agent Nico Vaesan has hinted that the Liverpool FC goalkeeper could leave before the end of the week.
“We are in discussions with Napoli, but there is no agreement yet,” Vaesan said.
“In the end it is in their interest to find a solution.
“Liverpool want to keep Simon, but he wants to play in matches – and he should.
“He deserves to play for a big club.
“Simon is the best option for Napoli in terms of quality, even though there is a financial aspect to it.”
Liverpool FC were 4-0 winners against West Ham United in their Premier League opener at Anfield last weekend.
