Michael Owen is backing Liverpool FC to beat Genk in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Reds will be looking to secure their third successive win in the group stage to put them within touching distance of the last 16.

Liverpool FC were 4-1 winners against Genk last month courtesy of goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

The Merseyside outfit are three points ahead of Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg in third place.

Liverpool FC were 2-1 winners against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday evening thanks to late goals from Andy Robertson and Mane.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will take on defending Premier League champions Manchester City at Anfield next Sunday.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Liverpool FC to warm up for the crunch league clash with a straightforward win over Genk on Tuesday night.

“Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 23 home European games (W17 D6) and it would be a major surprise if Genk – struggling midtable in the Belgian First Division – were able to stop the Reds from going into Sunday’s vital league game with Manchester City on the back of another comfortable home win,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Jurgen Klopp’s side won the reverse fixture 4-1 in Belgian on Matchday 3, but I can’t see the visitors finding the back of the net at Anfield.”

Liverpool FC won the Champions League title for a sixth time last season.

The Reds beat Bayern Munich, FC Porto and FC Barcelona in the knockout stage.

Klopp’s men were 2-0 winners against Tottenham Hotspur in the final courtesy of goals from Salah and Divock Origi.

Liverpool FC haven’t won the Premier League title but have finished in second place on four different occasions.

The Reds are currently six points ahead of defending champions Manchester City in the title race.
