Gary Lineker believes that Liverpool FC are the overwhelming favourites to beat Tottenham Hotspur and win the Champions League final.
The two English teams are set to do battle in European football’s biggest final in Madrid on 1 June as both clubs look to end the campaign with a trophy.
Liverpool FC booked their spot in the final in style, by coming from three goals down to seal a thrilling 4-3 aggregate win over FC Barcelona in the semi-finals.
Spurs also defied the odds in their semi-final tie, as they came from behind to claim victory over Ajax to secure their spot against the Reds.
Liverpool FC ended up in second place in the Premier League table this season and just a point behind champions Manchester City.
And former England star Lineker seems to think that Liverpool FC are the clear favourites heading into the tie.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Daily Star, Lineker said: “Overall, team against team, (Liverpool) have got the better players.
“They finished 20-odd points ahead of Tottenham this season so it’s hard to make a case where Tottenham are favourites.
“But, as we know in football, the best teams don’t always win, which is one of the things that makes it so special.”
Spurs are looking to win the competition for the first time in their history, while Liverpool FC are aiming to bring their sixth European cup back to Anfield.
Liverpool FC are still searching to win their first major trophy under Jurgen Klopp since his appointment back in October 2015.
