Michael Owen states his prediction for Liverpool FC v Watford
Michael Owen looks ahead to Liverpool FC's home clash against Watford in the Premier League on Saturday
Michael Owen is backing Liverpool FC to continue their march towards the Premier League title by claiming a comfortable victory over Watford on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds head into the game as the heavy favourites to win the Premier League title this term, with Jurgen Klopp’s men having only dropped two points all season so far.
Liverpool FC sealed their spot in the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday night thanks to a 2-0 win over RB Salzburg, and the Reds will now switch their attentions back to domestic affairs and the hectic festive period in the Premier League.
The Merseyside outfit are currently top of the Premier League table and eight points clear of nearest challengers Leicester City after a brilliant start to the new campaign by the Reds.
And former Liverpool FC striker Owen has admitted that he cannot see past anything but a Reds win when Klopp’s side welcome Watford to Anfield this weekend.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Watford have failed to score in nine league games so far this season, but leaders Liverpool have yet to keep a clean sheet in any competition at Anfield this term.
“The Hornets may find the back of the Reds’ net in Saturday’s early kick-off, but the Reds have won 24 of their last 25 league games and scored two or more goals in 23 of those fixtures. Those are remarkable statistics.
“I can’t see past another comfortable home win as top entertain bottom.”
After Saturday’s clash, the Reds will be in League Cup action on Tuesday night when they take on Aston Villa in the quarter-finals at Villa Park.
Liverpool FC are aiming to go one step further than they did last season and win the title this term.
