Sheyi Ojo has lifted the lid on his conversation with Jurgen Klopp about what improvements the Liverpool forward must make to his game.

The Reds boss hasn’t hesitated to give youth a chance in the 2016-17 season with Liverpool’s squad relatively small given the club’s stature.

Ojo made a couple of appearances in the cup competition but hasn’t featured since Liverpool’s exits in the EFL Cup and FA Cup earlier this year.

The 19-year-old is still waiting for his first appearance in the Premier League this season as Liverpool search for a top-four finish.

Klopp spoke openly about his conversation with Ojo during the warm weather training camp in Tenerife during the international break.

And Ojo has now shed light on his chat with the charismatic Liverpool manager ahead of Sunday’s home clash against Everton at Anfield next weekend.

“He mentioned a couple of things that I’ve taken on board. Ever since then, in training and the U23 games I’ve played in, I’ve tried to showcase what he wants from me,” Ojo told Liverpool’s website.

“I feel like I’ve done well and listened to what the manager’s said, and hopefully in the near future I can get another chance, another opportunity. But until then I’ll keep working hard.”

When asked to elaborate, Ojo continued: “He mentioned that he wanted me show that I wanted it.

“As a young player there’s always going to be ups and downs and it’s been hard for me getting injured and then coming back and not really getting an opportunity, but I’ve had to dig deep with the support of the staff and I feel that I’m getting better in every game.

“My work ethic’s probably been the best it’s ever been since I’ve been playing football, which is obviously a positive, I’m more direct when I get the ball like the manager wants me to be. So hopefully I’m heading in the right direction.”

Liverpool are in fourth place in the Premier League table and four points ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United in the race for a Champions League spot.
