Iago Aspas admits he is frustrated at his lack of playing time since moving to Liverpool this summer.

The uncapped Spaniard has found himself out-of-favour at the Reds in recent weeks following the deadline day signing of Victor Moses on season-long loan from Chelsea.

Aspas, who joined in a £6.7m deal from Celta Vigo in July, has failed to find the net in six Premier League appearances, prompting Brendan Rodgers to drop the forward to the bench.

And the 26-year-old realises that he is facing an even tougher task to break back into the side after the club’s stellar start to the season, leaving the Reds in second place.

“I’m finding it hard to be a sub at Liverpool having started games in the past few years,” he told the Daily Mail.

“When I left Celta Vigo I was aware that to start for Liverpool wasn’t going to be easy.

“And now the team is winning and we are among the leaders in the Premier League, it’s much harder to get a game.”

He added: “I hope to carry on working hard and little by little to get more game time with Liverpool,” he added.

“I want to change the current situation.”
