Liverpool will have to pay a club-record £60m fee to sign Virgil van Dijk from Southampton, according to Kaveh Solhekol.
The Sky Sports News HQ reporter has taken to Twitter to shed light on the latest developments in the transfer sage involving the Netherlands international this summer.
Van Dijk has been linked with a move to Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United in the summer after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s best defenders.
Southampton signed Van Dijk in a £11m deal from Scottish Premier League champions Celtic in 2015 summer transfer window under Ronald Koeman.
Sky Sports News HQ reporter Solhekol explained what Liverpool will to cough up £60m and wages of £200,000 a week to complete a deal to sign Van Dijk.
Solhekol wrote: “Liverpool will need to pay record fee (for defender) to sign Virgil Van Dijk – up to £60m. Wages likely to be about £200,000 a week.”
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to secure a return to the Champions League final.
The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title and have only won the EFL Cup in this decade.
