Alan Smith believes Liverpool will hold Manchester United to just their second stalemate of the 2017-18 season at Anfield on Saturday.

The Red Devils have collected 19 points from a possible 21 following an impressive run of six victories and one stalemate in their last seven games in the Premier League.

Worryingly for Liverpool’s misfiring attack, Manchester United have only conceded two goals and have kept an impressive six clean sheets in the Premier League this term.

Mourinho’s side are level on points with Manchester City at the top of the table but will do well to match the Citizens’ 5-0 thrashing of Liverpool last month.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have only managed to win one of their last seven games in all competitions since a 4-0 victory over Arsenal at Anfield at the end of August.

Former Arsenal striker Smith is backing Liverpool and Manchester United to share the spoils in their Premier League meeting at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

“It’s a derby and it’s probably going to equal out on the day,” Smith told The Debate on Sky Sports on Wednesday night.

Liverpool were forced to settle for a goalless draw with Manchester United last term after Mourinho adopted a conservative approach at Anfield back in October 2016.

The duo played out a more entertaining game at Old Trafford earlier this year as Manchester United drew 1-1 with Liverpool.
