Jamie Carragher unsure why Liverpool persist with Brendan Rodgers’ signings
The Liverpool legend doesn't understand why Jurgen Klopp continues with Brendan Rodgers' poor defensive signings

Jamie Carragher has questioned why Jurgen Klopp is persisting with some of Brendan Rodgers’ poor defensive signings at Liverpool.
The Reds slumped to a 4-1 loss to top-six rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Sunday evening to raise serious questions about Klopp’s inability to improve the Liverpool defence.
The Merseyside outfit have the worst defensive record on the road in the Premier League this term after conceding 15 times in five games – three goals more than basement club Crystal Palace.
Klopp signed four players in the summer transfer window but Andy Robertson was the only defensive signing but the Scottish left-back is behind Alberto Moreno in the pecking order.
The Liverpool boss started with Simon Mignolet in goal with Rodgers’ signings Joe Gomez, Dejan Lovren and Moreno in defence alongside Klopp’s free transfer Joel Matip.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher can’t understand why Klopp has decided to persist with some of Rodgers’ flops when the German coach has had the benefit of four transfer windows to make some defensive signings.
Carragher wrote on Twitter: “Problem under Rodgers was conceding goals. 4 out of the back 5 still Rodgers signings two years on that can’t be right.”
Klopp has signed 11 players in permanent deals since taking over the reins at Liverpool but Estonian centre-half Ragnar Klavan, Cameroon’s Matip, ex Manchester City goalkeeper Loris Karius and Robertson are his only defensive signings.
