‘Liverpool squad is now the strongest it has been for years’
Robbie Fowler says Liverpool's summer transfer business has left them with the strongest squad they have had in years

Robbie Fowler believes that Liverpool’s summer transfer business has left them with the strongest squad they have had in years.
The Red shelled out over £100m on new signings during the off-season – including striker Mario Balotelli – following Luis Suarez’s big-money transfer to Barcelona.
And after Brendan Rodgers’ men finished second in the table last term and just two points behind champions Manchester City, Fowler feels that the Merseysiders are now well-equipped to push for silverware on all four fronts.
“Full credit to the management and everyone involved in the recruitment process, we’ve gone out and signed players who can fight for positions all over the pitch,” Fowler told Liverpool’s website.
“You’ve got the full-backs, the centre-halves, all fighting for places. Nobody is really guaranteed a place, and that’s the way it should be.
“Of course, we all sort of know what our best first eleven is, but there are a lot of players who can come in and impress, and who will be hungry to do so as well.
“I think it’s as good a squad as we’ve had for many years at Liverpool.”
