John Aldridge believes Liverpool still only have an “outside chance” of winning the Premier League title.

The Reds moved to within four points of leaders Chelsea after a 6-3 victory over Cardiff City.

All Liverpool can do is keep winning. It’s not in our hands

Liverpool, who have played one game less than the Blues, face Sunderland at Anfield on Wednesday.

Aldridge is focused on the Manchester derby as Manuel Pellegrini’s men make the trip to Old Trafford.

However, the former Liverpool striker expects Manchester City to come out on top against the Red Devils.

“I never thought the day would come but for the first time in my life I’ll be cheering on Manchester United tonight,” Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.

“David Moyes’ side can count on my backing as I settle down to watch the Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

“Unfortunately, I think I’ll be left disappointed. With Robin van Persie injured and the way United have been playing at home, I can only see a City win.

“I hope I’m proved wrong as it would be great for United to do us a favour by taking points off one of our title rivals.

“All Liverpool can do is keep winning. It’s not in our hands. We still only have an outside chance of winning the title but we’re in the race.”
