Insider suggests Liverpool could sell defender to fund move for 26-year-old full-back
Liverpool could sell Alberto Moreno to raise funds to sign Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam, according to reports

Liverpool could sell Alberto Moreno in order to raise funds to sign Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam, according to David Amoyal.
The ESPN reporter is claiming that the Reds are long-term admirers of the Algeria international as Jurgen Klopp looks to improve his squad ahead of a return to the Champions League.
One position that the Liverpool boss will be eager to strengthen is left-back after vice-captain James Milner was used in the unorthodox role throughout the 2016-17 season.
Moreno has been out-of-favour under Klopp since his disastrous performances in a 3-1 loss to Sevilla in the Europa League final and a 4-3 win against Arsenal back in August 2016.
The Spain international has been linked with a potential return to his former club Sevilla but Liverpool are looking to recoup the £14m that they spent on the left-back three summers ago.
Serie A expert Amoyal revealed that Liverpool won’t use Moreno as a sweetener in any deal to sign Napoli star Ghoulam despite being keen to offload the Spanish defender.
“So far, Napoli have been unable to extend the Algerian left-back’s contract, which expires in 2018,” Amoyal told ESPN.
“Although there was interest from Milan before they signed Ricardo Rodriguez, Napoli had no intention of improving the squad of another Champions League contender.
“Liverpool have been interested in Ghoulam for quite some time, and though they do not appear willing to offer Alberto Moreno in the deal, they could use part of the proceeds from a sale of the Spaniard (linked to Inter) to acquire him.”
