Steve Nicol has delivered a blunt verdict on new Liverpool signing Mohamed Salah.
The Egypt international became the second signing of the summer transfer window for Liverpool.
Salah signed a long-term deal with the Merseyside outfit after Liverpool completed a reported record deal to sign the African winger.
The 25-year-old arrives back in the Premier League with an enhanced reputation after scoring 15 goals and making 11 assists in Serie A last term.
Salah struggled during his stay Chelsea before being loaned out to Fiorentina and then Roma.
The former Basel star will have to compete with Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane for a starting spot in Jurgen Klopp’s team next term.
But the former Liverpool defender doesn’t expect Salah to trouble Coutinho or Mane in terms of competing for a first-team spot.
“He is not better than Mane or Coutinho,” Nicol simply told ESPN FC.
Liverpool finished in fourth place last season to secure a return to the Champions League.
Salah came close to move to Liverpool in 2013 but the African star opted to join Chelsea.
The Egyptian star struggled to impress at Stamford Bridge and was soon sent out on loan to Fiorentina and then Roma.
