Liverpool are facing competition from Serie A giants Inter Milan to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, according to reports in Italy.
Italian website Calciomercato is reporting that Liverpool want to sign the Guinea international in the 2017 summer transfer window but will face competition for the box-to-box midfielder.
The same article states that Inter Milan have entered the race to sign the African star as new manager Luciano Spalletti looks to improve his squad at the San Siro outfit.
Liverpool have been long-term admirers of Keita after the versatile midfielder revealed last week that the Reds were one of a number of clubs chasing his signature last summer.
Keita moved to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in a £12.75m deal from Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg in 2016 before going on to establish himself as one of the German top flight’s most-impressive players.
The Guinea star scored eight goals and made nine assists in 31 appearances in the Bundesliga last season to help RB Leipzig finish behind Bayern Munich and secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
Liverpool have signed Chelsea forward Dominic Solanke and AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah in the summer transfer window so far.
