Liverpool wanted to sign exciting 22-year-old midfielder last summer
Liverpool tried to sign Naby Keita last summer, according to the RB Leipzig midfielder

Naby Keita has revealed that Liverpool tried to sign the RB Leipzig midfielder last summer.
The Reds are thought to be targeting the Guinea international in the summer transfer window as Klopp looks to bolster his midfield options ahead of the 2017-18 season.
Keita moved to RB Leipzig in a £12.75m move from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg last summer and helped the promoted side secure second spot in their first season back in the Bundesliga.
The 22-year-old scored eight times and made nine assists in 31 appearances in the Bundesliga to establish himself as one of the most-exciting players in the German top flight
Liverpool have been told that Keita would cost a staggering £70m this summer as RB Leipzig look to knuckle down and keep their star midfielder ahead of their first season in the Champions League.
And Keita has revealed that Liverpool were one of four clubs that were interested in the African midfielder last summer.
“Arsenal, Southampton, Manchester City and Liverpool, although I did not talk with the coach,” Keita is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
Liverpool have signed two players in the summer transfer window so far after the Reds completed a deal for England Under-20 international Dominic Solanke and AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah.
