Liverpool will face competition from Manchester City to sign striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports
Manchester City are ready to rival Liverpool in the battle to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
Sky Sports have published a story which states that Manchester City are prepared to enter the race to sign the Gabon international in the 2017 summer transfer window.
The same article states that Pep Guardiola is ready to capitalise on Paris Saint-Germain’s failure to get a £60m deal for the centre-forward over the line.
However, Sky Sports report that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of Aubameyang and the Reds could launch their own effort to sign the top European striker.
Liverpool could have a slight advantage in the race to sign the African star given Klopp’s past history of working with Aubameyang during his spell in charge at Borussia Dortmund.
Indeed, Klopp was responsible for bringing the 28-year-old to Westfalenstadion from Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne in 2013.
The Dortmund star would be a great addition for the Premier League duo given his excellent record in the Bundesliga since his move to Germany.
Aubameyang has netted 85 times in 128 games over the past four seasons at Dortmund.
