Robbie Fowler hopes to see Liverpool spend £180m on three top-class signings
The Liverpool legend backs Jurgen Klopp's approach to new signings in the summer transfer window

Robbie Fowler has issued his backing for Liverpool’s approach in the summer transfer market.
The Reds are facing a crucial summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to build his squad ahead of a return to the Champions League next season.
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to secure a return to Europe’s premier competition in their first full season under Klopp.
Naturally, the Merseyside outfit have been linked with a host of names in the summer transfer window but Liverpool have only completed two deals so far.
England Under-20 international Dominic Solanke moved from Chelsea on a free transfer, while Liverpool set a new transfer record with the £36.7m signing of Eygptian winger Mohamed Salah from AS Roma.
The Reds have been heavily linked with a £70m deal to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig, while Virgil van Dijk is thought to be a target despite Southampton’s £60m price tag.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror about Liverpool’s transfer dealings this summer, former Reds striker Fowler was pleased to see Klopp look to sign top-class signings even if his approach requires some patience.
“They seem to be concentrating on getting in that bit of extra quality in crucial positions,” Fowler said.
“And that is the right policy, rather than splashing their cash on six or eight players, like they seem to have done during the last few years.
“If they have to spend £150m to £180m to get three top-class players, it will be money well spent.”
