Liverpool want 25-year-old to provide Andy Robertson competition – report
Liverpool FC are eyeing a move to sign Augsburg defender Philipp Max, according to a report in Spain

Liverpool FC are interested in a deal to sign Augsburg left-back Philipp Max to provide back-up for Andy Robertson, according to a report in Spain.
Spanish media outlet Sport, as quoted by TEAMtalk, is reporting that Liverpool FC are looking to sign a replacement for Alberto Moreno after the Spain international left the Merseyside outfit on a free transfer this summer.
The same article states that FC Barcelona are rivalling Liverpool FC’s interest in Max after his impressive performances in the Bundesliga over the past three seasons.
According to the same story, the Reds are attracted by Max’s ability to get forward and support the attack – but FC Barcelona want the German defender to provide cover for Jordi Alba.
The report goes on to state that the Spanish champions could launch a move to sign Max as soon as next week as FC Barcelona look to get a back-up left-back in place.
Liverpool FC have been quiet in the summer transfer window so far despite winning the Champions League crown last term thanks to a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Madrid showpiece.
The Merseyside outfit haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place last term after the Reds ended up a point adrift of champions Manchester City.
