Liverpool transfer target Fabio Borini ‘seriously considering’ Anfield move
Fabio Borini "seriously considering" possible move to Liverpool after the Reds' interest in the Roma striker was confirmed
Fabio Borini is now “seriously considering” a move to Liverpool after learning of the Merseyside club’s interest in signing the 21-year-old, according to the player’s agent.
The Roma striker has been relentlessly linked with a switch to Anfield over the last 24 hours after Reds boss Brendan Rodgers said he wants to tie up “one or two” transfer deals this week.
The Reds’ interest in the Italy forward was confirmed on Tuesday, when Roma’s sporting director Walter Sabatini acknowledged that Liverpool have expressed an interest in bringing the striker to Merseyside.
Now, Borini’s agent Marco De Marchi has said the decision over his future lies with the player but refused to be drawn into details over any potential deal.
“Roma has informed us of Liverpool’s interest in the boy. Now it’s up to Fabio to have his say,” De Marchi told Radio Radio, before adding on IlSussidiario.net: “We were alerted by Roma of the existence of this deal.
“I cannot honestly tell you the details but, as Sabatini has already said, we’re now seriously considering it.
“Would the player want to go to Liverpool? Honestly, I don’t want to commit myself as there will be more news in the coming days. Wait for that.”
Borini worked under Rodgers at both the Chelsea academy and Swansea City. The striker scored nine goals in 24 appearances for the Serie A side last season.
Meanwhile, Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has signed a new long-term contract at the club. Shelvey spent the first half of last season on loan to Blackpool, before returning to Anfield and making 16 appearances under former boss Kenny Dalglish. The length of his new deal has not been revealed.
