Liverpool transfers: ‘Adam Lallana will give Reds balance’

Dietmar Hamann has backed Liverpool’s pursuit of Southampton captain Adam Lallana.

The Reds have reportedly made an improved offer of £25m for the Saints midfielder as Brendan Rodgers attempts to bolster his squad ahead of the World Cup.

Lallana has become one of England’s hottest properties over the past season after scoring nine goals and making six assists in 37 top-flight appearances.

His position is what we need at the moment and I think he will be suitable for us

And former Liverpool midfielder Hamann believes Lallana would add further quality to the Reds squad in what should be a demanding season in the Premier League and Champions League.

“I think we [Liverpool] can sign Lallana,” Hamann told Goal.com.

“If you see how we played last season, I think many players will be interested to play with us. Liverpool have a great project for the future and we have a chance to sign him.

“Lallana will give us more balance in the depth of the squad. Next season we will compete in many competitions and probably will get more injuries and suspensions.

“His position is what we need at the moment and I think he will be suitable for us.”
