Brendan Rodgers says Liverpool are still hoping to strengthen a “little bit more” amid speculation the Reds want to sign Chelsea’s Victor Moses.

The Merseyside outfit have been linked with a move to secure the Nigeria international on a season-long loan deal after the winger slipped further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Rodgers has already missed out on Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who joined Borussia Dortmund in July, while Brazilian midfielder Willian is on the brink of a move to the west London side.

While the Liverpool manager refused to directly comment on reports of an offer to take Moses on loan, the 40-year-old confirmed the Reds are still looking to add one or two players to their squad.

“We’ve got targets. There’s been speculation around many names this summer,” Rodgers told a news conference on Monday.

“For us, while the window stays open, we’ll continue to look to improve the squad and we will hopefully come out of the back of it with a stronger group.”

Despite admitting he is still hoping to improve his squad before the deadline, Rodgers insisted he has every faith in the players currently at his disposal to achieve the club’s goals for the season.

“The players that I’ve got have been doing brilliant and I’ve got every faith that even if we didn’t get any more players in that we’ll do really well this season,” he added.

“The idea is for us to strengthen a little bit more and hopefully we’ll do that.”
