Brendan Rodgers admits he is keen to bolster his Liverpool squad in the January transfer window.

The Reds have made an impressive start to the season, buoyed by eight new signings during the summer, with Simon Mignolet and Mamadou Sakho particularly impressing.

However, Liverpool have been forced to contend with a series of injuries in the early stages of the season, including Philippe Coutinho, who is recovering from a shoulder operation.

And Rodgers insists he will never be content with the strength of his squad, adding there is always room for improvement as the club looks to make “huge strides” under his management.

“It’s something I will always feel that [the squad needs bolstering],” said Rodgers.

“If you’re happy with what you got, that means a wee bit of complacency may have set in.

“We understand that we need to improve. The club finished eighth before I came here and last year we finished seventh.

“So we still have some huge strikes to make. It’s pretty clear that the work that the players are putting in and what they’re giving in matches is everything that they have.

“We’ve had a few injuries as well, and those players are returning back.

“Our game will continue to improve.”
