Liverpool transfers: Dejan Lovren gives update on Reds move
Liverpool transfers: Dejan Lovren says his head is already at Anfield after confirming a £20m offer from the Reds

Dejan Lovren has claimed that his head is “already at Liverpool” after the Reds had a £20m bid rejected for the Southampton defender last week.
The Croatia international has been heavily linked with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur throughout the summer, with Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana already swapping the Saints for Anfield.
Frankly, my head is already at Liverpool

25-year-old Lovren has proven a big hit in the Premier League following his £9m move from Lyon last summer, scoring three goals in 32 appearances in all competitions for the south coast club.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to strengthen his defence after shipping 52 goals last term – and Lovren urged the Saints to accept Liverpool’s £20m bid.
“Liverpool sent a 20 million offer and they [Southampton] paid nine million for me, so they would’ve earned twice the amount,” Lovren is quoted as telling Croatian website Sportske Novosti.
“At this point, I don’t know what I’ll do and I don’t like it. It was unbelievable that a few days ago I had an offer of 20 million pounds. It was in the morning and by the afternoon the club had said I was not for sale. Frankly, my head is already at Liverpool.
Lovren was critical of Southampton’s failure to inform the Croatian centre-half of Liverpool’s £20m bid and subsequent contact between the two Premier League clubs.
“Liverpool sent the offer and the club haven’t informed me,” Lovren added.
“Not even about the subsequent Liverpool bids. That wasn’t right. I found out about the bid from other people which disappointed me and I realised I’ve got no business staying at Southampton.”
