Liverpool transfers: ‘Football obsessed with Luis Suarez exit reports’
Liverpool transfers: Steve McManaman says the footballing world has become "obsessed" by reports linking Luis Suárez with exit
Steve McManaman claims that the footballing world has become “obsessed” with the prospect of Luis Suarez leaving Liverpool this summer.
The 27-year-old striker continues to be linked with a big-money move away from Anfield, despite the forward having signed a new contract with the Merseyside club in December.
Everyone’s obsessed with Luis Suarez leaving, you have to draw the line somewhere
And former Liverpool midfielder McManaman feels that the Reds would only need to consider selling the Uruguay international should they receive a bid of more than £200m.
“It’s a very hypothetical question,” McManaman told Squawka. “Everyone’s obsessed with Luis Suarez leaving, you have to draw the line somewhere.
“He’s just signed a four-year contract and Liverpool are in the Champions League and nearly won the league.
“I don’t think the concern should be Luis Suarez. If someone comes and bids £200m for him then it might be worthwhile, looking at it and seeing the economical and business side of it.
“It’s the same if PSG pay £500m for Cristiano Ronaldo. When anybody has four years left on their contract, I think it’s hypothetical. If someone pays enough money, you can get any player across the world.”
