Liverpool transfers: Jamie Carragher welcomes Mario Balotelli exit reports
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher says Mario Balotelli was a 'major mistake' from the whole club
Jamie Carragher has welcomed reports that Liverpool flop Mario Balotelli is set to join AC Milan on a season-long loan.
The Italy international is reportedly on the brink of a return to Serie A after a difficult 12 months at the Merseyside outfit.
I still can’t believe he signed him, but it hasn’t worked out and he’s going to move
Balotelli scored one goal in 24 Premier League appearances following his £16m move to Liverpool from AC Milan last summer.
Liverpool legend Carragher doesn’t rate former Manchester City striker, adding that he was surprised Brendan Rodgers signed Balotelli.
“No not from me. The Balotelli signing was a major mistake from the whole club,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“He (Rodgers) has got Benteke and Sturridge to come back. I still can’t believe he signed him, but it hasn’t worked out and he’s going to move.
“He’s kidded some coaches if he’s got another move this time to AC Milan.
“Where’s the evidence of his quality?!”
Balotelli managed to score a disappointing four goals in 26 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool in the 2014/15 season.
The Italian striker, who scored twice at Euro 2012, was part of Manchester City’s title-winning side in 2013 before he was sold to Milan.
The 25-year-old striker has already played for Inter Milan, City, Milan and Liverpool in his stop-start career so far.
