Liverpool transfers: ‘Luis Suárez shouldn’t leave for less than £80m’
Liverpool transfers: Luis Suárez shouldn't be sold for less than £80m, according to ex-Reds captain Phil Thompson

Liverpool shouldn’t sell Luis Suarez for less than £80m, according to ex-Reds captain Phil Thompson.
Barcelona are reportedly close to agreeing a £70m deal to sign the striker despite the Liverpool talisman’s latest biting scandal at this summer’s World Cup.
But Thompson, who won three European Cups during his Reds career, feels Liverpool should be getting more for Suarez than the £85.3m Tottenham Hotspur received for Gareth Bale last summer.
“I don’t think Suarez should leave for less than £80 million,” Thompson told Liverpool Echo.
“This guy is far better than Gareth Bale. He gives you far more, particularly in the lesser games.
“If he goes to Barcelona they will find that against the lower teams, when a lot of players don’t turn up, he will be bang up for it.
“This has been coming. Some foreigners like Sami Hyypia come to the club and develop a strong attachment and don’t want to go elsewhere.
“But the reality is that most foreign players will only stay for a few years. Liverpool turned Suarez into a world-class striker and will make a massive profit.”
