Michu admits that he would like compatriot Iago Aspas to join Swansea City on loan in January.

The uncapped Spain international has been out of favour at the Reds since moving to Anfield in a £6.7m deal from Celta Vigo in the summer transfer window.

It would be a pleasure to play with him. Iago has had injuries, but he has quality

The 26-year-old, who has returned from eight weeks on the sidelines due to a thigh injury, has failed to score in seven Premier League appearances for the Reds.

And Michu, who joined Swansea from Celta Vigo in 2011, hopes Aspas will move to the Welsh outfit on a temporary basis next month.

“We [the Spanish players] are hoping he can come here on loan,” Michu is quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror.

“It would be a pleasure to play with him. Iago has had injuries, but he has quality. He deserves to play in the Premier League.

“He has been unlucky. At Liverpool, they have Luis Suarez and (Daniel) Sturridge, who have scored a lot of goals. Suarez is, along with Diego Costa and others, one of the best strikers in Europe.”
