Brendan Rodgers says he is relaxed about Luis Suárez’s Liverpool future amid reported interest from Real Madrid.

The Uruguay international has been linked with the Los Blancos in recent days as the La Liga side eye a long-term replacement for the misfiring Karim Benzema.

Liverpool managed to keep the forward at Anfield this summer despite the striker expressing his desire to leave and Arsenal making two big-money offers.

But Rodgers is refusing to think about a potentially hectic January transfer window and just wants to enjoy having Suárez back scoring.

“My only concentration was getting the summer window over and done with and having a top player still here and that’s what happened,” Rodgers told Liverpool Echo.

“You never know in football nowadays. After the experiences of the summer it’s so hard to tell.

“All you can do is have a sense of the present. At the moment Luis is in good form, he’s happy and scoring goals.”

Rodgers also backed the Liverpool supporters to give Suárez a warm reception on his return to action at Anfield following a 10-game ban and a summer transfer window rife with speculation.

“I’m sure Luis will get a great ovation from the fans,” Rodgers added.

“He has done his talking on the field recently. During the two games he has played since he came back from his suspension he has shown how committed he is with his work rate.

“The two goals he scored against Sunderland were reward for how hard he’s been working. He’s in good spirits and I am sure he will continue to score goals.”
