Liverpool transfers: Schalke deny that the Reds have made an approach to sign Klaas Jan Huntelaar this summer

Schalke have denied that Liverpool have made an enquiry about the possibility of signing Klaas Jan Huntelaar this summer.
The Netherlands striker has been linked with a switch to Anfield in recent days amid reports that controversial forward Luis Suarez is set to join Barcelona.

Huntelaar, 30, is currently part of Louis van Gaal’s World Cup squad and scored the Oranje’s winner in the 2-1 victory over Mexico last weekend.
However, Schalke general manager Horst Heldt insists that the Premier League club have not yet made contact about the striker.
“I don’t want to take part in possible speculation,” said Heldt. “But it could of course be the case that something will change in the squad and that there will be some movement here or there.
“The last thing I read was that Liverpool are supposed to be interested in Klaas Jan Huntelaar.
“We don’t know anything about that. Liverpool, Klaas Jan and his agent have not been in touch with us and we’re not interested in releasing the player.”
Huntelaar scored 12 goals in 18 Bundesliga appearances last season.
