Liverpool transfers: Steven Gerrard unsure of Luis Suárez’s future
Liverpool transfers: Steven Gerrard says the Reds need to qualify for the Champions League to safeguard Luis Suárez's future

Steven Gerrard believes Liverpool need to qualify for the Champions League in order to safeguard Luis Suárez’s future at the club.
The Uruguay international has been in scintillating form for Brendan Rodgers’ side, scoring 16 Premier League goals this term.
However, the Reds have struggled to perform consistently, and as a result, are seven points behind fourth-place Tottenham Hotspur.
Gerrard says that Suárez is happy at the 18-time English champions after signing a new long-term deal at the club in the summer.
But the Liverpool captain acknowledges that a player of Suárez’s calibre deserves to be playing in Europe’s elite club competition.
“I don’t know [about Suárez’s future],” Gerrard told Sky’s Goals on Sunday.
“I know he’s signed a long-term contract. I know he’s comfortable and he’s happy here, but I think that’s a question for Luis to answer. Only he knows what his ambitions and dreams are.
“Hopefully we can put a fight on from now until the end of the season, to finish fourth, and we make the decision for him.
He added: “But Luis Suárez deserves to be in the Champions League, and I think everyone has to admit that.”
