Liverpool transfers: Swansea confirm interest in Jonjo Shelvey
Liverpool transfers: Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins confirms the Welsh outfit want to sign Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey
Huw Jenkins has confirmed Swansea City are interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey this summer.
The England Under-21 international was limited to just nine Premier League starts last season, scoring once in 19 top-flight appearances and netting three goals in the Europa League.
Shelvey fell out of favour in the second half of the campaign, and the Swans are keen to bring the former Charlton Athletic midfielder to the Liberty Stadium to strengthen Michael Laudrup’s squad.
“There is an interest there and we are talking to Liverpool,” Jenkins told South Wales Evening Post.
The League Cup winners have also been linked with Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony and Lyon star Bafetimbi Gomis, and Jenkins revealed Swansea are working on deals to make a number of signings.
“We are still talking on a number of fronts to try to get the right players on the right deals for Swansea City,” Jenkins added.
“There have been continual conversations on Bafetimbi Gomis because he has been one of our main targets.
“The fact is that there are quite a lot of things which need to be sorted out at Lyon’s end which are out of our control.
“We have kept the door open on that one. Similarly with Wilfried Bony, we are waiting for information.
“We are waiting for news back from his club – we are still talking to them.”
