Liverpool wish Jonjo Shelvey all the best after Swansea move
Liverpool wish England Under-21 international Jonjo Shelvey all the best after the midfielder joined Swansea City
Swansea City have signed Jonjo Shelvey in a £5m deal which sees the midfielder move from Liverpool to the Liberty Stadium.
The England Under-21 international has signed a four-year deal with the Swans and is set to join up with Michael Laudrup’s squad on their pre-season tour of the Netherlands.
Shelvey’s transfer fee could rise with potential add-ons in the deal, and the 21-year-old is Swansea’s fifth signing of the summer – Jordi Amat, Jose Canas, Alejandro Pozuelo and Jonathan de Guzman have moved to the Welsh outfit.
A Liverpool statement read: “Liverpool Football Club have confirmed Jonjo Shelvey has completed a transfer to Swansea City.
“The 21-year-old spent three years at Anfield after joining from Charlton Athletic in May 2010.
“In total, he made 69 appearances for the Reds, scoring seven goals.
“Everybody at Liverpool FC would like to wish Jonjo all the best for the future.”
Shelvey, who scored three goals in Liverpool’s Europa League campaign last season, joined the Reds in a £1.7m deal from Charlton Athletic in 2010, winning the League Cup in February 2012.
