Jamie Carragher believes that Liverpool’s current squad would struggle to cope with the demands of Champions League football.
The fourth-placed Reds are currently on track to secure their spot amongst Europe’s elite for the first time since 2009 as they seek a top-four finish this season.

However, Carragher has warned his former employers that they would have to significantly bolster their squad in the summer if they do successfully break back into the Champions League.
“I think they would struggle to cope [with Champions League football]. We’ve seen at times in the last few weeks [with] the substitutions they made in those big games at Manchester City and Chelsea,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“You get more injuries the more games that you play – that’s obvious – so they would need a bigger squad, more players and more quality.
“You could argue they need that even without European football because if they don’t finish in the top four, again it’s another season… how long is this going to go on for?

“With it, you get that extra revenue and you can then go and buy better players and have a bigger squad.
“They need more quality on that bench.”
