Liverpool’s Brendan Rodgers ‘really looking forward’ to Man City test
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists he is really looking forward to facing Manchester City on Boxing Day
Brendan Rodgers insists Liverpool are relishing their top-of-the-table clash against Manchester City on Boxing Day after securing top spot.
The Reds leapfrogged Arsenal into first place after Luis Suarez scored his 18th and 19th goals of the season and Raheem Sterling netted his second of the week in a comfortable 3-1 win against Cardiff City at Anfield.
We’re really looking forward to the games

Liverpool travel to City next Thursday before facing Chelsea in a tough run of Premier League fixtures, but Rodgers is feeling confident heading into the Citizens clash after his side’s performance on Saturday.
“We’re really looking forward to the games. At Manchester City last year, we should have won and ended up drawing the game,” Rodgers said.
“Manchester City have a great squad of players; everyone looks at them as Manchester City’s title to lose because of the squad they have. For us, it’s just about taking each game at a time.
“We have been on a fantastic run, the quality of our football is at a really high level – we’re pressing the game very well, our aggression to get the ball back is good. We’ll arrive there on Boxing Day in a really good moment. It’s a game I’m really looking forward to.”
