Daniel Sturridge says he is “raring to go” for England ahead of Friday’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Montenegro.
The 23-year-old striker has already scored six goals in seven Premier League appearances for Liverpool this season as Sturridge continues to shine following his move to the Reds from Chelsea in January.
Sturridge missed England’s most recent qualifiers due to a thigh injury, and the Reds forward is ready to make up for lost time in the Group H tie at Wembley.
“At the moment things are going well and I’ve been blessed by God to have this sort of form and my faith in God has got me to where I am today,” Sturridge said.
“Hard work is what it’s all about. It’s important to do your job and give everything on the football field until the end of the game and that’s what I try to do.
“I’m feeling good. Everyone is positive going into the games, we’re raring to go and just want to get into that first game and get a result.
“These are two very important games because of the position that everybody in the group is in. We have four teams who can all qualify.
“We are one of those at the top of the pile at the moment and, God-willing, we can get two great results in the next couple of games. It’s everybody’s dream to play in a World Cup and it’s certainly mine.”
